the many faces of sophia

this child. oh this child. on tuesday when i walked in the door, she came running up to me and as i held her while i stood in the middle of the living room, she began patting my hair. she has a very small, high, soft voice when she talks (which she is beginning to, barely) and so imagine that kind of voice saying these words whilst patting me: "here go, here go!" big grin. soft curls.

how can i help loving this baby?!

damon = missionary

my brother is 19. today we said goodbye for 2 years so that he can serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. the reason that he's doing this is so awesome to me- knowing Christ has helped him and now he has the chance to help others learn about Him. missionary work isn't about converting people to the Church so that the Church grows and is glorified, it's about helping people find Christ. i love my brother and i'm proud of him. he is so good.. not in an irritating or brainwashed way, but he is solid through to his core and even putting religion aside, he is one of the best kids i know. whatever you may think about the LDS Church, i challenge you to find a better group of 19 year old boys anywhere other than the MTC (missionary training center). it can't be done.

we said goodbye and then he walked away without looking back. he was so confident and happy. i think he grew up about 5 years in that 20 yard walk. he's not a boy anymore.

website update!!!

alright! i finally updated my website. i have one more gallery i want to add, with work that i do for myself and not for clients.. personal art, if you will. other than that gallery though, the website is updated for now (although i want to update it again in a couple of months). you'll notice that i only have engagement pictures on there- that's because i've decided to take a hiatus from everything but engagement sessions. so, if you or someone you know needs an engagement photographer, shoot me an email (heather@heatherlorraine.com)! keep an eye on my blog though, i'll still be posting stuff here. one more thing, this announcement will not affect previously scheduled sessions.

janey and i decided to go to salt lake city last night but we didn't really have a plan or a map. while trying to find a cathedral we stumbled upon the city council building. we had no idea where to go so we settled on this. the cathedral will have to wait for another adventure.
