last class

tonight was the last night of the workshop with brooke snow. one of the homework assignments was to frame our subjects. i drove up into provo canyon today while it was raining and i took this using my car window to frame the view. i don't have any people around to photograph on demand, so trees had to do. i really like this snapshot though.

tonight after class i parked my car and looked out at the view behind my apartment complex. it looked neat so i decided to try some night photography. this is pretty blurry because i just held it with my hand, but it works for this shot:

landon + alyse = wedding (take 2)

these were some of the most fun people to work with, ever. both families were so dang cute and hilarious, i really had fun! beautiful wedding, people, and scene. yay!

new eye!

my new lens came today, a 50mm 1.8, and it's lovely!!!!!!! this was taken in bad lighting, this lens does really well in low light. here i am modeling it:

one of the wonderful things it does (because of the low aperture) is focus on a very small spot, this is just a picture of a view from my apartment as an example:

and again, small focus spot and wonderful blur (yes, i did edit it and i put a texture overlay on it.. i'm still playing with texture):

landon + alyse = wedding

here is a sneak peak at the session with landon and alyse today. i had so much fun working with them and i'm really pleased with their pictures. they aren't getting married until next weekend, but they wanted to take their pictures before their wedding day. i thought it was a wonderful idea and i'm going to recommend doing that from now on.

also, i am SUPER excited because i finally discovered how to save my pictures in a way that makes them look pretty much the same in any internet browser. i haven't looked at them on a PC yet, but they're the same on my mac in both safari and firefox. hooray! hopefully posts from here on out are more true-color.

lenses

i'm taking a photography workshop from brooke snow right now and this is a shot i got yesterday while doing my homework.  i have been reading reviews about lenses all morning and i'm trying to decide what new lens i want to get. i'm going to upgrade my lenses before my camera body, but hopefully i'll have all new equipment by september or october. i have a couple of lenses in mind and if all goes well, i may have them by mid june!!!! the lenses i'm considering: nikkor 50mm 1.4 lens + tamron 17-50mm 2.8 lens. i'll be saving my dollars for a while;)

brad + heather = married!!!!!

my amazing friend heather and her awesome man brad got married at the end of april. i am so happy for them. when she called me and told me she was engaged, i have to admit i danced around and almost cried as if it were my own engagement:D love makes me so happy inside. they were married in the draper temple and it was a beautiful stormy day.

i took my cousins to the park today. most of these are of sophia because i watched her the whole time. they are all in the swing because she had to be contained if i wanted to take pictures at all:)
